আমি প্রভুর কাছ থেকে পাওয়া স্বপ্নের প্রতীকগুলির অর্থ বোঝার জন্য আদর্শ স্বপ্ন ব্যাখ্যার বইয়ের ব্যবহারকে দৃঢ়ভাবে নিরুৎসাহিত করি। সাধারণ বস্তু, রঙ, প্রাণী, অবস্থান, বা এই বিষয়ের জন্য অন্য যেকোন কিছুর অর্থ ভিন্ন হতে পারে বিষয়গুলির সাথে মানুষের সংসর্গ ও অনুভূতির উপর ভিত্তি করে যা প্রতিটি ব্যক্তির জন্য অনন্য। পরিবর্তে, আমি পরামর্শ দিই যে প্রতিটি ব্যক্তির উচিত স্বপ্নে বারবার আসা প্রতীকগুলির অর্থ বোঝার জন্য তাদের নিজস্ব “স্বপ্নের শব্দভান্ডার বা স্বপ্নের ব্যাখ্যায়” বিকাশে মনোনিবেশ করতে হবে।

আমি তুলনামূলকভাবে অল্প সংখ্যক প্রতীক আবিষ্কার করেছি যা খ্রীষ্টের দেহের মধ্যে একইরকম। স্বপ্ন ব্যাখ্যা করার অভিজ্ঞতার দশ বছরেরও বেশি সময় ধরে আমি স্বপ্নের এই প্রতীকগুলিকে অনেক মানুষের কাছে পেয়েছি এবং এই প্রতীকগুলির ৮০ শতাংশের অর্থ একইরকম। নীচের অনেক প্রতীকের শাস্ত্রীয় সমর্থনও রয়েছে যা শুধুমাত্র এই যুক্তিটিকে শক্তিশালী করে যে কয়েকটি সর্বজনীন প্রতীক রয়েছে। আমি আবারও সতর্ক করতে চাই যে যেকোন সময়ে এই প্রতীকগুলি বিভিন্ন লোকের কাছে বিভিন্ন অর্থ বহন করতে পারে তবে এই ব্যতিক্রমগুলি বিরল বলে মনে হচ্ছে – অন্তত আমার অভিজ্ঞতায়। নীচের এই বিষয়গুলি আপনার নিজের স্বপ্নের শব্দভান্ডারের প্রথম সংযোজন হিসেবে তৈরি করুন। ভবিষ্যতের অন্যান্য প্রতীকগুলি আপনার নিজেকে উপলব্ধি করতে হবে, তবে আশা করা যায় যে প্রভু এবং খ্রীষ্টের দেহের অন্যদের কাছ থেকে কিছু সাহায্যের মাধ্যমে!

সাধারণ স্বপ্নের প্রতীক এবং তাদের অর্থ:

ঘর – ব্যক্তি প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে; তাদের জীবন; একজনের আধ্যাত্মিক অবস্থা। (মথি ৭: ২৪-২৭, দ্বিতীয় তিমথীয় ২: ২০-২১)

ঘর, ভিতরে একটি নতুন ঘর আবিষ্কার করা – যদি ইতিবাচক অনুভূতি হয়: জীবনের নতুন ক্ষেত্র বা পরিচর্যার ক্ষেত্র স্রষ্টা খুলবেন বা তাঁর খোলার ইচ্ছা আছে যদি আপনি বুঝতে পারেন এবং একমত হতে পারেন। যদি নেতিবাচক অনুভূতি হয়: একজনের জীবনের একটি অন্ধকার অংশ প্রভু প্রকাশ এবং/অথবা নিরাময় করতে চান।

ঘরের ছাদে একটি গর্ত; ছেঁড়া বা জীর্ণ শিঙ্গল ঘর – আধ্যাত্মিক আবরণের অভাব নির্দেশ করে; জীবনের এমন একটি ক্ষেত্র যেখানে পাপ বা আসন্ন ভুল সিদ্ধান্তের কারণে স্রষ্টার সুরক্ষা প্রত্যাহার হয়েছে।

নগ্নতা – স্রষ্টার সাথে ঘনিষ্ঠতা প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে। ঈশ্বরের সামনে নগ্ন হয়ে দাঁড়ানো স্রষ্টার কাছে আত্মসমর্পণের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে; (আদিপুস্তক ৩: ৮-১১)

সাপ, সর্প – শত্রু প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে; রাক্ষস একটি খারাপ লক্ষণ; বিপদ (আদিপুস্তক ৩: ১, গণনাপুস্তক ২১: ৪-৯)

যানবাহন – সিদ্ধান্তের কারণে একজনের জীবনের বর্তমান পথ বা দিক নির্দেশ করে; সাধারণ ঘরের প্রতীকের মতো ব্যক্তির জীবনকেও উপস্থাপন করতে পারে (যেমন চাপ এবং নিয়ন্ত্রণগুলি পরিচালনা করতে অসুবিধা হওয়া, অনেকটা অচল: এমন একটি অবস্থার ইঙ্গিত যেখানে কেউ নিজের জীবনকে নিয়ন্ত্রণের বাইরে বোধ করে এবং তাদের জীবন এবং বর্তমান দিকনির্দেশনার উপর কোন শক্তি নেই। একটি মৃদু, উপভোগ্য সাদা গাড়িতে চড়ে যাওয়া: জীবনের একটি ঋতুর ইঙ্গিত যেখানে স্রষ্টা রহমত করছেন) ।

যানবাহন, অনেক-প্যাসেঞ্জার (বাস, ট্রেন, ইত্যাদি) – উপরের “যানবাহন” এর মতোই কিন্তু একদল এক হিসেবে কারো পরিবার, গির্জা, সম্প্রদায় ইত্যাদি; (যেমন, আঘাত সহ একটি বাসের ধ্বংসাবশেষ: সতর্কতা যে একটি নির্দিষ্ট সিদ্ধান্ত বা বর্তমান অবস্থা খারাপ ফলাফলের দিকে নিয়ে যাবে) ।

পানির স্রোত, তাড়াহুড়ো বা দ্রুত প্রবাহিত হওয়া – যদি একটি ইতিবাচক অনুভূতি হয়: স্রষ্টার আশীর্বাদ নির্দেশ করে; পবিত্র আত্মার উপস্থিতি। (যিহিষ্কেল ৪৭: ১-৯)

জীবন স্বর্গ থেকে ভালবাসার একটি উপহার। আপনি কি কখনো ভেবে দেখেছেন যে কিভাবে একটি মুহূর্তের দুর্ঘটনা আমাদেরকে এই জীবন থেকে নেক্সট জীবনের যাত্রায় পাঠিয়ে দিতে পারে? আমি এখানে কেন? আমার গল্প কে লিখেছেন?
“চায়ের আড্ডা আপনাকে একটি দুর্দান্ত চা বিরতিতে আমন্ত্রণ জানাচ্ছে যেখানে
আমরা শক্ত কাঠের বেঞ্চে বসে আড্ডা করব মৌলিক প্রশ্ন নিয়ে, বাতাসে ঘ্রাণ দুধ চার এবং সাথে একটু বিস্কুট বা ডালপুরি, মহাবিশ্বের রহস্য নিয়ে হবে আলাপ এবং চিন্তা করে দেখব যে আমাদের নিজেদের জীবন নিয়েও বা আমরা কী করছি?”
“যখন আমরা মারা যাব তখন কি হবে? এই জীবনের মানে কি? আপনার জীবনের মুভিতে, কে চূড়ান্ত অধ্যায় লেখেন বা ছবি আঁকেন তার সবকিছুই শেষের দিকে যা ঘটবে তার সাথে যুক্ত। তাই এই প্রশ্ন ওঠে। আপনার গল্প কে লিখেছেন? এবং কিভাবে এটা শেষ হবে?
আপনি কি কখনো সেই পাতলা আবরণের সম্পর্কে চিন্তা করেছেন যা আমাদেরকে এই জীবন থেকে এবং সেখানে মহান থেকে আলাদা করে?”
আপনি যদি একজন প্রিয়জনকে হারিয়ে থাকেন, বা নিজে জীবন-মরণ পরিস্থিতির মধ্যে দিয়ে কোন মতে বের হয়ে এসেছেন, তাহলে আপনি এই প্রশ্নগুলোর মোকাবেলা করেছেন। আমি এখানে কেন আছি? আমি মারা গেলে আমার কি হবে? তাই এক কাপ চা নিন। বসুন। একটা গভীর নিঃশ্বাস নিন। ধর্মগ্রন্থে যিশুর এক পাপীর বাড়িতে আসার গল্প রয়েছে। বসে আড্ডা দেওয়া, চা খাওয়া। যখন তিনি চলে গেলেন, তখন সক্কেয় নামের এই লোকটির সবকিছুই বদলে গিয়েছিল। আপনি কি সর্বশক্তিমানের সাথে এমন একটি চায়ের আড্ডায় বসতে চান?
যাত্রা আপনাকে ভিন্ন রকম একটি চায়ের আড্ডায় আমন্ত্রণ জানিয়েছে। উদ্বোধন। কি হবে যদি সত্য একটি ধারণা নয় কিন্তু একজন ব্যক্তি হয়ে থাকে। স্বয়ং স্রষ্টা যিনি আপনার সাথে সম্পর্ক গড়তে চান?

“তাই যা দেখা যায় তার দিকে লক্ষ্য না করে বরং যা যা দৃশ্যের অতীত
তার ওপরই আমরা দৃষ্টি নিবদ্ধ করি। যা যা দৃশ্যমান তা তো অল্পকালস্থায়ী:

যখন স্রষ্টা আপনার মুখ ধরে রাখেন : শিশুর মত বিশ্বাস নিয়ে প্রবেশ ২০২২এ

আমি নিশ্চিত নই ২০২১ সালে আসলে কি হয়েছে। মনে হয় যেন আমি খরগোশের গর্তে পড়ে এক বন্য স্বপ্নে আটকে ছিলাম। বলতে গেলে অনেকটা পরাবাস্তবের মত, আপনি যদি আমার মতো হন তবে আপনি সম্ভবত এই সিদ্ধান্তে পৌঁছেছেন যে বাস্তবতায় কোন কিছুই আর আগের মতো হবে না।

জীবনে এমন কিছু মুহূর্ত রয়েছে যা আপনার নিঃশ্বাসকে রুদ্ধ করে দেয়। আপনি যে বিশ্বের দিকে তাকাচ্ছেন তাঁর মাথা আর ঠিক নেই, আপনি গভীরভাবে সচেতন যে আপনি আপনার কানে যে ধাক্কা শুনতে পাচ্ছেন তা হল আপনার হৃদয় দুঃখ, ভয় এবং কষ্টে ফেটে যাচ্ছে। সুপার স্টোরের আইল দিয়ে যাওয়ার পথে একটি খুব পরিচিত শৈশবের চকলেটের প্যাকেট দেখে স্মৃতির জলপ্রপাত বইতে শুরু করে আর মনে করিয়ে দেয় যে জীবন কেমন ছিল এবং এখন কতটা পরিবর্তিত হয়ে গেছে৷

হারিয়ে যাওয়া উদ্বেগ এবং সম্পর্কহীনতার অনুভূতির অনেকের জন্য হয়ে উঠেছে অপ্রতিরোধ্য। এ বছর বাড়িতে একাকীত্ব রাজত্ব করেছে। কাজ, সামাজিক ব্যস্ততা এবং পরিবারের ভার্চুয়াল বাস্তবতার দিকে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার কথা বলার লোকেরাও সম্ভবত ঠিক একইভাবে ভয় পাচ্ছে যে শারীরিক স্পর্শ এবং উপস্থিতির জন্য সত্যিই কোনও প্রতিস্থাপন নেই। আমাদের দেহগুলি আমাদের এই ধন যা হল সেই যোয়ই/জীবন বহন করার জন্য তৈরি করা হয়। সেই জীবন এখন বন্দী এক স্ক্রীনের পিছে সারাদিন।

২০২১ সালের ঘটনাগুলি এবং যে ক্ষতি তা করেছে তার কারণে আমি শুদ্ধ সম্মিলনের তীব্র আকাঙ্ক্ষা অনুভব করি। জাল বা অন্তহীন ভয়ের জন্য আমার খুব কম সখ্যতা আছে এবং আমি যদি আমার অবিশ্বাসকে স্থগিত করি তবে ফলাফল আরও ভালো হতে হবে। আপনি কি নিজেকে ভিন্নভাবে ভাবছেন? মানুষ জিনিসের চেয়ে বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। স্মৃতিগুলো মূল্যবান। জীবন সবসময় ছোট। প্রতিটি নিঃশ্বাস একটি অলৌকিক ঘটনা।

আমি অন্য দিন একটি রেষ্টুরেন্টে ধন্যবাদ কার্ড লিখছিলাম, একটি গরম আদা চায়ে চুমুক দিচ্ছিলাম। আদার সূক্ষ্ম সুবাস আমার নাকে আঘাত করার সাথে সাথে এই জায়গায় বসে থাকার চায়ে চুমুক দেওয়ার স্মৃতি জাগিয়ে তুলল, অসময়ে চলে যাওয়া একজন প্রিয় বন্ধুর সাথে সময় কাটানোর স্মৃতি। অনিচ্ছায় চোখের জল গড়িয়ে পড়ল।

আমি যীশুর হাতে আমার চেহারা ধরে রাখার একটি ছবি নিয়ে এই সপ্তাহে ঘুরেছি। আমি জানি না এটা কখন ঘটেছে। কিন্তু এটা এত স্পষ্ট, এমনকি বাস্তব মনে হয়, যেন একটি শিশুর চেহারা ধরে রাখা হয়েছে। আমি তার দৃষ্টির কেন্দ্রবিন্দু। আমার প্রতি তার অবিভক্ত মনোযোগ আছে। কোন শব্দের প্রয়োজন নেই। আমি তার চোখে সহচর নীরবতা দেখতে পাচ্ছি। নিখুঁত ভালবাসা, এমন একজনের যিনি আমার চেয়ে বেশি কষ্ট পেয়েছে, আমার জন্য।

আমি ভাবলাম, আহা, যিনি স্বর্গ ও পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছেন, তিনি আমার চেহারা ধরে আছেন! সবকিছু ঠিক হয়ে যাবে।

আপনাদের সবাইকে শুভ নববর্ষ! এই আগামী বছরে আপনি হয়ে উঠুন ধিরস্থির, তার হাতে আপনার মুখকে ধরে রাখার সুযোগ দিন। আপনার চিন্তার দৌড় বন্ধ করতে ঠিক যতটুক সময় লাগে। তার দৃষ্টির উপর মনোযোগ দিন। তাঁর শান্তি আপনাকে রূপান্তরিত করতে দিন যা আপনার হৃদয় এবং মনকে রক্ষা করে।

এক ক্লান্ত বিশ্বের জন্য প্রশান্তি

Christmas 2020

This has been a year like no other. 2020 will go down in the books as one of the wildest rides of our lifetime. Corona Virus, pandemics, racial tensions, civil unrest, crashing stock markets, political upheavals, natural disasters, death of loved ones, children out of school – all in the space of nine months. Did I mention the murder hornets and dust storms across the Atlantic from the Sahara?
As this year draws to a close and the holidays approach, I find myself reflecting.  What shall become of us?

I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted. Weary of masks, social distance, shuttered storefronts, endless hand sanitizer … with no end in sight. Have things changed forever? What is our hope?

This year Christmas will be different for everyone. But wait – It was into such a dark time, 2000 years ago, in the midst of Roman oppressive rule, that folks in a small Palestinian town, weary and scratching the bottom of their barrels, not sure what the future held, witnessed a 2000-year prophecy fulfilled.

You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!”  The greatest gift came in humble wrapping – a baby born in a cave, laid on a feeding trough, while shepherds came to see the mystery. What was happening on that Holy Night?

This Christmas let’s open our hearts to the wonder and thrill of hope. Let’s fall to our knees as remember that first Christmas. Let us exchange our weakness for His JOY.  Let’s bring ornaments to the tree that last into eternity. Let’s give up the shallow glitter for the true light from Heaven. Let’s unwrap the gift of salvation that was promised to us, we just need to BELIEVE and receive.

Do yourself a favor this Christmas.  Let yourself feel divine joy, simplify, and let God comfort your weariness, your grief, your loss. HE  is the Gift!

Why Am I Here on Earth?

In other words, why are we even born if we are only to die some 70 or 80 years later? Isn’t there more to life than to say, “Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die?”

Probably not if you believe the earth was created from a “Big Bang,” that man evolved from amoebas millions of years ago, or that there is no Creator. Science is even discovering that the universe is getting old. It’s dying, just like man, and it’s not going to last forever. Something makes us wonder, “Why am I here?” That something is God.

In the beginning God created the heavens, the earth, the humans, and the amoebas. The Bible tells us that God specifically created man and woman in his image and that he desired to have “fellowship” (companionship or friendship) with his creation. He “blessed them” and gave them “rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground” (Genesis 1:1-28). We are here to tend the earth. We are also here for God’s pleasure, which ends up being pleasurable for us—if we know him personally.

There is more to just living and dying. Each person is born in God’s image, which is personable, able to love, to laugh, to feel, and to think. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent (2 Peter 3:9). What is repentance and why do we need it? When the first man Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone (Romans 5:12). Without recognizing that we inherited that sin status and trusting that God made a way through Jesus Christ to change our status through repentance, we can never have a relationship with God; for he is holy and we are sinful. We are here on earth to honor God, to know God, and to share the benefits of this experience with others while on earth so we can ultimately spend eternity in a place called Heaven. We can only do that if we know Jesus as our Savior.

Eternal Life

Loving and obeying God will not necessarily make us rich, handsome, or successful — not by this world’s standards, anyway. In fact, the Bible actually promises that we will have to endure some scorn for holding fast to God.

How could it be otherwise? The world hates nonconformists, so they can’t help but sneer at people who believe that the next life is so good that the present life can’t begin to compare with it.

Too bad we often neglect this belief. The Bible certainly doesn’t.

You will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your godly one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16:10-11

“I know that my Redeemer lives, and that he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!”  Job 19:25

“Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven.

“All who believe in God’s Son have eternal life. Those who don’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but the wrath of God remains upon them.”  John 3:6, 36

“This is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them to eternal life at the last day. For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life — that I should raise them at the last day.”  John 6:39-40

“I assure you, anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!”  John 8:51

If we have hope in Christ only for this life, we are the most miserable people in the world.

But the fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again.

So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, Adam, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man, Christ. Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, the first man. But all who are related to Christ, the other man, will be given new life.  1 Corinthians 15:19-22

The wages of sin is death, but the great gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as he raised Christ from the dead, he will give life to your mortal body by this same Spirit living within you.  Romans 8:11

Let me tell you a wonderful secret God has revealed to us. Not all of us will die, but we will all be transformed. It will happen in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, the Christians who have died will be raised with transformed bodies. And then we who are living will be transformed so that we will never die. For our perishable earthly bodies must be transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die.

When this happens — when our perishable earthly bodies have been transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die — then at last the Scriptures will come true: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”  1 Corinthians 15:51-54

So dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Doing this, you will never stumble or fall away. And God will open wide the gates of heaven for you to enter into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  2 Peter 1:10-11

I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, “Look, the home of God is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will remove all of their sorrows, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. For the old world and its evils are gone forever.”

And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making all things new!”  Revelation 21:3-5

Heaven: How Can I Know for Sure?

Heaven: How Can I Know for Sure? That’s a great question!

1 John 5:13 tells us,

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

Did you notice those three powerful little words you may know? We don’t have to guess or wonder about whether or not we have eternal life … we can know whether or not we have it.

In John 3:16, Jesus gave a clear and simple explanation of the way to eternal life when He said:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Believing means putting your faith in these facts about Jesus: Jesus was God; He left heaven to come to earth in the form of human baby; He grew up living a sinless life; He died on the cross for you as a perfect, sinless sacrifice for the penalty you owed for your sins; He was buried and rose from the dead three days later; and He returned to heaven where He is now in a position of power of authority at the right hand of God the Father.

Simply put, believing Jesus is the key to knowing we have eternal life.

The Tomb is Empty

“On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.” Luke 24

The tomb is empty.

Death could not contain the One who poured Himself out in Love. The light floods the once dark cave and fills the entire world with hope. The debt has been paid, the last enemy death has been defeated, hell has been conquered, the captives have been liberated, love has triumphed and heavens gates have been opened wide.

He is Alive and all those who stand at the Altar of the Cross, believing in His promise, shall live forever in Him.

The tomb is empty.

There is a glorified Resurrected Savior, now seated at the right hand of the Father, holding the place He has prepared for each of us. His wounds are glorified now, beautiful, streaming the light of grace upon an earth being born, revealing the depth of His love and the Hope that springs eternal.

Through taking on our very humanity, He did for us what we could never have done for ourselves. He “who knew no sin” walked in the perfect obedience of the Son and bridged the gap between the Father and the sons and daughters who had rejected His invitation to communion, through the offering of His own Body on the altar of the Cross. And now, He lives no more to die!

The tomb is empty.

Through His passion, His obedience unto death, and His Resurrection, He welcomes us into the very inner life of the Trinity. In Him we make our home in God. In His sacred humanity He transforms the entire human experience. He invites us to live differently and shows us the path to peace, this way of the fullness of life now and eternal glory in the new world to come.

The veil of the tabernacle has been torn. His flesh has become the bridge between heaven and earth. He has opened eternity to all who were bound by the chains of time. He has clothed in glorious freedom those once wrapped in the grave clothes of death. He has given eternal purpose to the sheep who had wandered aimlessly in empty self pursuits.

The tomb is empty.

The whole world, created through Him, is now re-created in Him. We see our lives differently as we open ourselves to His Spirit and allow Him to replace our finite vision with the eyes of eternal perspective. Our feet become shod with the hope of the Good News as we walk the journey of faith, following in His train.

His redemptive mission continues through us to a world waiting to be born. He walks through time in His Body on earth, His church; the world reconciled. He invites all men and women to follow Him. For these who are born again through the waters of Baptism, every tomorrow is filled with hope.

The tomb is empty

We find the purpose of eternity revealed in the temporal realities of every today. The real “stuff” of our mundane daily lives becomes the ingredients of our own sanctification; the materials out of which the new creation is fashioned anew around us.

The materials have not changed; we have, because He lives now in us. There is nothing we face alone, no tomorrow that is not redeemed and made new in the timeless One, who, out of endless, eternal, unquenchable love, came into time to redeem and transform it.

Life for a Christian is not circular but linear. It is always moving forward to fulfillment in Him. There is a beginning – and an end – which is but a new beginning in the One who is Himself both the Beginning and the End. Time unfolds into eternity in Him who has entered time and transformed it by His life, death and Resurrection.

That Glorious Day, the first day of the new creation, that Day that the early Christians called the “Eighth Day”; is now upon us. It is the portal to eternity. He is the firstborn, the first-fruits of a new creation and is making all things new now, within us and around us.

The tomb is empty.

The ground upon which He breathed and formed our first brother Adam, the ground upon which He walked and into which they placed His sacred, lifeless Body, has opened wide. It could not contain Him. He Rose victorious from the dead! “Be not afraid” He now cries out causing the stones to burst forth in our own lives. “Be gone” He commands as he shines the light that dispels all the darkness!

“Now since the children share in blood and flesh, he likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life. (Hebrews 2:14-15)”.

The tomb is empty!

Faith reigns. Death dies, dealt a fatal blow at the hands of the Warrior of love. Through sin, death came into the world, and now through the Sinless One it has been vanquished.

No longer an enemy it is a friend, an ally, to those who live their lives in the One who has been raised. No longer an end, it becomes a new beginning for all who hide their lives in His wounded side and live their lives forever joined to Him. Nothing can separate us from that Love incarnated in the Crucified, Risen Son of the True and Living God.

The tomb is empty

When we embrace the implications of that empty tomb we begin to live in eternity, even now. We understand that He holds the future – our future and the future of this whole world that He still loves- in those wounded, glorified hands.

The events that we remembered and celebrated during these Holy Days provide a lens, a “hermeneutic” of meaning for everything that happens in our daily lives. Even suffering and loss have beauty and irreplaceable value – redemptive, life transforming value- when we choose to follow the One who has been raised. The world is bathed in the newness of Easter.
